Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

UniVR (“we”, “us”) operates univr.app, a platform for immersive learning and member networking. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

  • Account data — email address and authentication details when you sign up (via email/password or Google). Managed by Firebase Authentication.
  • Profile data — display name, role, organisation, field, bio, location, website, interests, profile photo, and whether your profile is public in Discover. Stored in Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage.
  • Social activity — connection requests, follows, blocks, and direct messages between members who have accepted a connection.
  • Newsletter sign-ups — email addresses submitted on the homepage “Stay in the loop” form.
  • Support messages — name, email, and message content when you contact us via the Support box (processed by Formspree).
  • Technical data — standard server and browser logs from our hosting provider (GitHub Pages) and Firebase.

How we use your data

  • To create and manage your account and profile.
  • To let members discover each other, send connection requests, and message accepted connections.
  • To send product updates to newsletter subscribers (you can unsubscribe by contacting us).
  • To respond to support enquiries.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems.

What others can see

Your profile is private by default. If you turn on “Show my profile in Discover”, your public profile fields (not your email) become visible to anyone visiting Discover or your public profile link. Direct messages are visible only to you and the other participant.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account from your profile settings. This removes your profile, connections, messages, and uploaded photo. Newsletter emails are kept until you ask us to remove them. Support messages are retained by Formspree according to their policy.

Third-party services

We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage), Formspree (support form), and GitHub Pages (hosting). Each has its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us at hello@univr.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of UniVR after changes means you accept the updated policy.
